Chinese Transit visa (G Visa)
Transit visa through China is issued to persons traveling via China, where the final destination is another country.
Documents required:
- Original passport with at least 6 months validity and at least 2 blank visa pages.
- Completed
Chinese Embassy Visa Application Form
signed & dated by the applicant.
- One recent colour passport photograph. *
* Please note that home-made digital photos or copied photos are not acceptable.
- A valid visa for the country of final destination. Please note that the Chinese Embassy may require additional information in support of the Chinese transit visa application, such as original tickets to the country of final destination for inspection. These will be checked and later returned
to the applicant.
Additional documents (as of April 15 2008):
- A copy of Chinese hotel booking if applicable
- A copy of outward and return flight ticket booking
Transit visa validity and duration of stay:
The validity of Chinese transit visa issued by the Chinese Embassy is usually three months, with the duration of stay within China being up to 7 days, unless the applicant specifies their request on the application form and obtains approval from the Chinese Embassy.
Important notes:
- Visas to China cannot be applied for more than three months in advance of the entry date.
- The length of Chinese visa is determined by the Chinese Embassy
- National of certain countries may not need a Chinese transit visa transit through Shanghai airports Pudong and Hongqiaofor a period of less than 48 hours without exiting the airport. Please check this information before you travel.
